It hits all the nails on the head + something more. Gorgious graphics, realalistic feal, wind, bullet drop, ect. The multiplayer has little depth, but the mode with the spotters and snipers is great fun. Also, the snipers are absolutly awesome, and the sidearms and autom atic are supposed to be used for specific times, or when your compromised and are escaping to a new terratory, so they do what there supposed to. When it comes to the story you dont play a sniper game to be emotionally touched, most play to kill unspecting foes with that perfect shot. The issues are that the Campaigns story is relitivly forgettable,the multiplayers a bit lacking, and that besides the sniper, all of your guns are average at best, weak at worst. Sniper Elite V2 succedes in all aspects mentioned but has a flaw here and there. The ideal sniper game has tight controls, great graphics, all of the factors real snipers must take into consideration when lining up their shots, realalistic feel,bullet tracking, and good co-op (spotters and snipers). As a "hardcore gamer" Ive played many games in many genres. Sniper Elite V2 is my faveorite sniper game, period. Sniper Elite V2: The best sniper game made to date.

I can see from the trailers and reviews that the full version will have all kinds of goodies. Once I had to restart twice at the end because my shots on the explosive-armed truck was off! If you mess up and die early, there are checkpoints that you can restart from without having to go all the way back to the beginning of the episode. Easier to aim your gun at a moving target in front of you. Its better to use your machine gun or handgun when you are inside buildings. If you see a light reflection, that's where he is. Use your scope to scout the area where the shot came from.
Sometimes a sniper shot can show up as a white tracer whizzing by. When you are looking thru the scope, a shooting German threat shows up as a red area around the edge of the scope. Your next targeted spot should have a yellow diamond pasted on it. Helpful Hints: If you get disoriented or lost, look for the yellow direction arrows. You know you are done with the first episode when a German tank rolls into town and points its barrel at you!! Shoot him and shoot the remaining German soldiers on the street. Once the convoy is stopped, locate the German scientist running around. You make a steady aim and shoot to explode the bomb. You wait until the convoy passes a truck that has a explosive pack attached. Once those are placed, you will find a high vantage point to observe the convoy coming thru town. Once all the Germans are cleared, you will locate the places to place explosives (a convoy is coming thru).
You go thru buildings to clear out the soldiers occupying those areas. The demo version showed only the first one. you could say he got his balls kicked!Įach episode has a storyline to follow. One of the most unusual hit I had was a shot on a German scientist that escaped from a convoy that was hit by a roadside bomb (which was planted by you!) My shot was too low for a vital hit in the head/chest. I've had different shots like getting a leg, arm or even a foot hit. If it is a "vital" kill, you will be rewarded with a "x-ray" vision of the body/head as it is impacted by the bullet. Depending on the hit, you will get various views of the unsuspecting German soldiers as they are hit. You see your shot leaves your gun barrel, travel in a straight line to its target. Sometimes you will see what I call a "bullet-cam". I was also impressed with the slow-mot ion shot replay if you get a good kill. You may have to hold your breath in some cases! You also have to deal with steadying your shot and keeping your heart rate down. The higher levels have German soldiers that are better shooters and more difficult to hit.Īlso at the higher levels you have to deal with bullet ballistics (wind drift, distance of shot, etc). No worry about wind drift or distance of shot. You can start out at the lowest level, where the German soldiers stand up and shoot at you while presenting themselves as easy targets. I was impressed with the variety of levels that you can work with. This has all of the expected elements of a one-person sniper/shooter game. This review is based on the demo version.
